ECIS Enterprise – Software PLUS Service

At CarbonSystems we have developed a tried and tested methodology to support the deployment of our ECIS platform. Our Software PLUS Service implementation strategy is built around a 6 stage collaborative process that ensures consistent and quality client outcomes. Where necessary, we will tailor our software and services to your needs and preferences to ensure we deliver a solution that best fits your environmental management and reporting objectives. The key elements of our methodology are as follows

1. ECIS Scoping and Customisation
Our process begins with a comprehensive client-scoping workshop to identify and define the following:

  • Project timeline, projects teams and responsibilities. The project team will usually comprise of a Project Manager, Data Co-ordinator and Business Analyst.
  • Energy sources, carbon emissions and other environmental measures being tracked
  • Organisational structure, operating divisions and site locations
  • Data mapping – assess the current flow and format of consumption and emissions data
  • All emission factors to be applied
  • Location information, including classifications and attributes data, such site sizes and employee numbers

2. Historical Data Capture
CarbonSystems provide Excel templates to assist clients in the collection of historical data. This data can simply be emailed to the Services Hub for automated uploading to the database. CarbonSystems and our Partners also provide a range of professional services including:

  • Data cleansing, including testing for completeness and accuracy
  • Data “harvesting” – working with your suppliers to obtain electronic copies of historical data that may be too difficult or costly to retrieve internally

3. Ongoing Data Capture
CarbonSystems will work with your team to undertake a comprehensive data mapping exercise that identifies all sources, formats and suppliers of energy and emissions data. In particular, we place an emphasis on electronic data from smart meters, supplier reports and internal business systems – ensuring you achieve the maximum value from automated data capture. In addition, we will:

  • Provide sample data schemas for various emissions such as electricity, fleet, fuel etc
  • Support you in discussions with your suppliers
  • Review electronic data files for completeness
  • Design, build and test data connectors for new data formats
  • Configure best practice workflows to support the manual collection of data
  • Configure surveys for the capture of qualitative data e.g. building attributes

4. Report Scoping and Customisation
CarbonSystems will scope your reporting requirements to ensure they meet the needs of all stakeholder groups. Where ECIS standard reports don’t exist for your requirements, we can develop customised reports. CarbonSystems and our Partners can also:

  • Assist in the development of a reporting schedule in ECIS so that reports can automatically be delivered to nominated individuals in your organisation on a periodic basis.
  • Identify any external data publishing requirements and set up widgets and web-services that can be configured to run on your intranet or websites.

5. User Acceptance Testing
CarbonSystems will facilitate user acceptance testing (UAT) with a selected group of ECIS users identified by the client. We analyse UAT feedback and modify ECIS as required. Following modifications, we undertake a second stage of UAT to ensure client satisfaction prior to project sign-off.

6. User Familiarisation Training and Handover
CarbonSystems will conduct client training and handover workshops (usually a half-day), and provide full system documentation as part of the license agreement. Training can be provided at client site(s) and/or online.

Ongoing telephone and email support is available within the scope of our Software as a Service license agreement.

CarbonSystems took the hard work out of reporting to the National Greenhouse and Energy Reporting System. We like their technology and their service, and we’re using their system to assess payback on our water and energy-efficiency programs
